Beyond Blended Learning. It’s Blended Instruction.
Sometimes relying on anecdotal feedback isn’t enough to justify why something is done the way it is. Blending theory into practice can help you answer “that’s why.” Learn how Google Forms and publishing in e-Portfolios can improve student writing outcomes.

It’s not just blended learning anymore, it’s blended instruction. Blending theory and research into practice increases the validation of instructional design. In this session, the writing process will be justified by theory and research. Participants will be shown how the stages from the theory of self-regulated learning actually improve writing outcomes, all of which students can demonstrate using Google Forms and publishing in e-Portfolios. While the initial establishment of the process is teacher-directed, future processes are student-centered, allowing students to take more ownership of their writing.

Remixing and Modding in the Math Classroom
Blended learning is a data, driven instructional approach, that offers personalized learning in a flexible, adaptive model that draws from multiple resource and an integration of technology.
Using Khan Academy in our 5th through 8th grade math classrooms, allows many teachers to experience data driven instruction at a new level. Using performance based assessments built on common core standards, our teachers are designing curriculum and projects that engage students not only in math, but across subject areas. Participants will have an understanding of how one school district is moving teachers to a personalized blended learning model where teachers are weaving technology and various other resources together to create dynamic and authentic learning opportunities that work towards a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. To Engage or Not Engage: Ingredients for Quality Online Learning Experiences
As online learning continues to expand, don’t leave the students behind through lack of engaging online experiences. Come to this session where we will examine how to actively engage students with the online content; whether that content is a single lesson, unit or a complete course. We will demonstrate tools and online resources that can be used to create online learning experiences that engage students, promote critical thinking and deliver Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards content.

[Insert LMS Here] Summer Academy
Last year, I built a blended summer course for teachers who wanted to incorporate a blended component to their classes. The course was delivered through our LMS, using a flipped model, and included not only instruction in using the LMS but also considerations and strategies for online learning. I’ll share how I built the course, how the teachers completed the work, and what some of the results were.
